Theoretically, if you strip the DRM off of them, you could read the Amazon books on a DR1000 I think. Not because the DR1000 doesn't support DRM, but because the Amazon books will be encoded for a specific Kindle, not the DR1000. But you can't buy Amazon books anyway unless you have a Kindle registered on the account, so I really don't see this as a viable option unless you plan on owning both.
