I think basically, every car should come standard with the hands-free system, and the purchaser only has to coordinate with their existing cellphone carrier to either add the car to their list of "phones," or as a device that automatically takes over when the owner's phone is detected.

One of GM's best features was its On-Star system (maybe it's only good feature... we'll leave that for another time). I always felt that such services should be expanded to all appropriate vehicles, expanding the system, which would in turn employ more people to do the call connecting and service providing duties to the vehicles. That kills two birds with one stone, making it safer for drivers, and employing more workers. Boo-yah!
