I think she means "natural" predators, as in animals other than humans. Unlike here, where we have lions that kill and eat the deer, the UK doesn't have any large carnivores (other than man).
And, even here, people do cull the deer from time to time to keep the population from breeding itself into starvation. Although, in my neighborhood (even though it's against the law) there are several families who put food out for the deer and other wildlife on a regular basis, especially when there are pregnant momma deer about.
