Better half and I have no real hard and fast rule, but since all the money comes out of the same shared pot, it doesn't matter too much. Though the gesture is nice. HOWEVER, I really like it when she picks up the tab on those occasions that the waiter has deliberately given it to me (as the man), rather than leaving it it the middle of the table.
