Does he have to fly non-stop? I mean, a stop isn't quite as bad as having to change planes. Check with skyscanner.net to see how the prices are there. They show a lot of flights from Amarillo to Chicago Midway (granted, with stops), but they also generally list "adults" as anyone 12 or over.
