I'm new here but I've been reading all over the web about the SmartQ 5/7. I'm highly interested in the SmartQ 7 device but I'm still hesitating.
I'm looking for a device for the following uses (readers of maemo talk zone might remember this
):
- Browsing the internet at reasonable speed, mainly reading emails, news websites, boards and youtube...
- Typing text during lectures (I'm a student) - using a external keyboard obviously here. Being able to use OpenOffice would be great.
- Emulate Games (up to SNES and MegaDrive generation is enough...DosBox and/or ScummVM too).
- Good experience for watching videos, in terms of speed and possibility to read wide range of formats. SmartQ 5 already have Mer running on them; did it improve the video reading experience ?
- Decent mp3 player
- Installation of a linux-based OS
I'm also wondering how much will it cost to ship to Belgium, Europe. Can someone in a near country could tell how much he spent for the thing, all charges included ?
Finally, and because there are people here and elsewhere asking for it, I'm working on a board dedicated to the SmartQ 5/7. It will be up by the end of the week. If it works, and if I do buy a SmartQ 7, I guess it could grow into a website during the summer. You tell me if it's a good idea...
