I have bought books that contain 2 books in one .prc file. I prefer one book per file, so I'm splitting them. Might be the same reason for the OP.

To the OP: I extract the HTML source and split the HTML code (that does require a bit of work, depending on the source, you need to find out where the split is and what to put in both (new) sources). Then I copy the e-book files that are to be in both books (like the manifest) and edit them if needed (book title for example and the ID).

And finally, I recompile both books.
