I don't believe that's the case. My experience is that you get the "Stop" sign and the "Transferring Files - Do not disconnect" message whenever the "Connect" application is running on the PC, regardless of whether or not files are actually being transferred at the time. It only changes to "USB Connected" when you exit the "Connect" program.
