I think if you had dragged the files from your HD back into the Library, it would have repopulated them. Sorry, I should have been clearer on that.
On the registration, I don't think you've used up a registration, as you're just re-registering the same device you had registered before. I'm not
certain about it, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.
