I just found this thread - I hadn't noticed it before, and I love it!
The whole site is a little bit scary to start with, but whilst slowly joining in I've found people are very friendly and welcoming, and the Lounge is becoming my favourite part of the site. It was helped when I was ill and had to take a day off work and discovered the joy of spending all day reading posts, and was helped when I lost my job and everyone was sympathetic and patient with my ranting!
I'll answer as many questions as I can remember, and probably add a few bits of extra information on the way.
Chocolate's my favourite food (dark chocolate obviously). I don't think I should have to choose between Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett, there's time for both. We never had pets when I was young as we had a baby sister instead. Once I saw how much hassle
that was, I decided to keep my life pet free for a while, but if I ever change my mind it'll probably be a cat as I'm too lazy to walk a dog every day
I read a lot, which is why I'm wearing this shirt. Reading was so much more appealing than doing the laundry.
I'm also quite nosy, which is why I read everyone else's answers before I thought about mine.
I picked my username because when faced by an empty box my imagination ran away, and as my real surname is difficult to spell I liked the idea of a world where my name was simple.
I often find I can't sleep. I used to read, now I read on my sony and check MR at the same time (often with a cup of tea - if I'm awake anyway the caffeine isn't going to hurt). With an international community, there are always other people here.
And yes I'd love a drink - whatever's on offer, not fussy.
