OK, so this is what "Use power savings" means. The description in the settings menu is very vague...

Sorry ... yes, I read the section you quoted, I guess I'm still incredulous and needed to be told twice. I like the display quality and form factor of this device, but it seems ridiculous that it the battery lasts less than a day even in the "power saving" mode (on an eInk device, no less), and I need to shut it down completely after every use.

I was hoping to have it around my office so I can use my idle time to catch up on some articles (esp. when my desktop computer is busy doing stuff), but waiting 30+ seconds for it to boot up every time is frustrating. I guess I'll just have to keep it plugged in most of the day, and select "Only use automatic shutdown when running on battery."
