I do believe we're heading there and PixelQi is the closest we'll have in the near future. It still will be significantly heavier and hotter than the current eInk readers. Those netbooks they show probably have at least a 4 cell battery and are 2-3 lbs. The Kindle has a teeny battery which keeps it small, light, and cool. But even so, I think I would prefer a PixelQi tablet or netbook over the DX for business use. I would not view it as a replacement for my recreational reading. It would be great for reading and annotating large documents I use at work plus I could run the same kinds of applications, have my work calendar on it, etc. I do worry that eInk and it's cousins will fall by the wayside, though. They become a tougher sell when there's a more compelling multi-tasker in the game.
