Roddy Doyle's
Barrytown Trilogy employs this type of thing, though only in the dialogue, and reading it aloud soon gets you into the groove of it. For what it's worth, it's a great trilogy that gets better with each book. I've heard that Irvine Welsh's
Trainspotting does similar, or moreso.
