OLED displays - narrow viewing angle?

I've just got my first device with an OLED display on it - a high-end DAB radio made by "Pure".

The screen works well, but one thing I've noticed is that, compared to a traditional LED, it appears to have a very narrow "viewing angle" - I can only see what's on the screen within about a 30 degree angle either side of looking at it "face on".

Is that a normal characteristic of OLED screens, or something specific to this device, perhaps?
