I'm Very Pleased
I've done my experimenting and the reader is everything I want in a reader. One of the big tasks I want is a reader that allows me to read books I have only in electronic format.
Utilizing "cut and paste" into Word, I've been able to read blogs and other internet material. I'm very happy with the formatting results. I'm also able to access some reference material from CD ROM via the same process--again the formatting is excellent.
I use the reference works' search engine on the PC. I select the texts of interest, past them into Word, then transfer them to the Reader. I'm getting much more research accomplished this way.
I'm not at all disappointed in the display. (The only ghosting I've noted has been in the title page graphic--not at all on the text pages.) I don't miss search functions and notation functions. (I have my PC for that.) The build quality is excellent, I'm glad it has some heft.
I see room for clever programmers to add quite a bit of functionality in the future. (I'd like to be able to automatically update my blogs via RSS.)
At any rate, it's about time someone put out a product that does one thing and pretty much only that one thing. I don't want a virtual Swiss Army Knife. (I've got the Axim for that.)
