I completely agree. An annoying bug that affects usability is an annoying bug nonetheless, even if the usage pattern of a large majority of users (including myself) results in them being unaffected by the bug. It is important to figure out, though, if only a few people have the bug, which means you might need to contact iRex (as opposed to it being a firmware bug, which would meen yelling, screaming, begging and rattling your chains until iRex fixes the firmware ).

Ah. So you do (for those wondering, this answers my question on the iRex forums). Well, it doesn't occur so badly on my reader, which is why I asked if it had anything to do with your specific PDF file. I read 2-column (does it have to be 2-column even?) IEEE journal articles and I just tried them out with 15 second pauses between page turns, and I encounter 1 tear every 10 turns or so, I can live with that.

Some tips that might help:
1. You don't have to do a samba, just hit the menu button, twice
2. You might want to edit the dr1000.ini file in the System folder on the DR, and modify the /apps/er/sys/power/sec_suspend field to some value larger than 10 (was it 10 in the first place?). I don't know if the new power management scheme in 1.6 even uses this value (which should be in seconds), but it does not let you choose this value in the settings menu. Set it to 2-3 minutes or more, so that it will not affect your page turns but will still kick in if you decide to set the DR aside for a while. You will take a slight beating in battery life, but its better than disabling the power management altogether, and you can still enjoy the faster PDF loading etc. in 1.6.
