Actually, you don't necessarily need multiple sets of buttons. Rather, you need one well placed set along with the ability to re-orient the reader and screen display. Remember that eBookwise-1150 a bunch of us insisted that you play with? While the specific industrial design may not be copy-able, the ability to use the device in any of the 4 orientations with automatic remapping of next-page and previous-page buttons was sheer genius!
That kind of flexibility matters far more than "buttons on both left and right."
