Daffy's right, it doesn't make any sense, but I'll attempt to answer it.
DRMless files is *not* like getting paperbacks for free. Daffy's right, that makes no sense at all. Have you owned more than one computer? Have you installed the same software (that you bought!) on a new computer? What if your software stopped working whenever you got a new harddrive? What if your software stopped working whenever you moved to a new house?
What if they seized all your books when you moved to a different state? THAT's what having DRM on your ebooks is like.
Do you have any ideas how many copies of LOTR I've bought? I still have the now coverless ones I first bought in college. I have the 3-volume hardback boxed set I bought to replace them. I have the single-volume Alan Lee illustrated hardcover version. And now, I have the ebook version, since the publisher has come to their senses and released it. All I ask is that I still be able to read the ebooks that I paid for 20 years from now, just as I'm able to read the paper versions that I bought.
Does that make me a thief in your book?
