Hey, I used to live outside of Warrenton. I'm sure I wouldn't recognize it now, though.

lilac_jive, whereabouts? We live just north of town, very close to Airlie.

Calibre also offers automatic downloads from several news sources. You can read pdf and epub library files on the Sony.
|
toomanybooks, Thanks - good to know. About Calibre - are news sources limited to the Sony or will they work with any Calibre supported reader? As for pdf files from the library, our local supports ADE. Will ADE work only with some of the readers?

I'm really happy with my 505 and personally I love the UI.

Cassy, Thanks - I'm quickly learning there are a
lot of advocates for the 505. Maybe my first instinct wasn't too far off? Oh, but those buttons...

Good luck in your decision and let us know what you decide.

kelly1010, Thanks - it will take me a while. I tend to be very thorough. But when I do decide, I will let everybody know what - and why. And then I will ask for help, tell you how I like it, yada yada yada...

The Hanlin V3 (EZ Reader) has folders, and the next firmware (due any day now) for the Cybook will have folders.
|
wallcraft, Thanks, that is a relief! As for Cybook, hasn't that firmware release been "coming soon" for a while now (or am I mixing it up with another reader)? I would love to try a Cybook, to see if it works as good as it looks.

The EZ Reader has the longest battery life (the Sony's are pretty good too). It currently comes with DRMed MOBI support, but this may be switching to Adobe's DRMed PDF and ePub soon (like the Sonys have). This switching formats is a disadvantage...
|
wallcraft, now you're causing me some concern. Does this mean if I establish a library of DRM'd mobi books, I could lose them if/when the EZ Reader switches to DRM'd PDF and epub support - or will there be a way for me to support both? And how do you like your EZ Reader? - it is definitely on my "short list" so far.

I love my cheapie little EB1150
|
sassanik, Thanks - it was the very first one I considered when I started looking into all of this a month or two ago. I have since decided some others are better for me, but have to admit the EB1150 has some advantages.
Everybody -
