[GUI Plugin] ComicScissors - comic & manga panel splitter for e-readers
ComicScissors cuts the panels out of comic and manga pages and repacks them onto pages sized for your e-reader, so they're
readable without
zooming.
Features
Input: CBZ, CBR, CB7, ZIP, RAR, 7Z, PDF
Output: PDF (works on every e-reader), EPUB, KEPUB (Kobo), AZW3 (Kindle) or CBZ, added to the same book as a new format,
with the book's title and authors as metadata. The original file is never replaced; if the book already has
that format, the result is saved as data file data/<name>_repanel.<ext>
Built-in profiles: Kindle, Kobo, PocketBook, Boox, Tolino, reMarkable, Nook, or any custom screen size
Manga mode (right to left), webtoon mode (vertical scroll comics), two-page spread splitting, rectangle-crop fallback
Cover page kept whole, auto contrast, optional full-page overview before each page's panels, image quality setting
Optional invisible OCR text layer for dictionary lookup (needs Tesseract)
Progress with all 6 steps and time remaining in the Jobs window; cancel works
Usage
Add the "Repack for e-reader" button to a toolbar, select comics, click. Settings are in the button's menu.
Requirements
calibre 6.0+, Windows / macOS / Linux (x86_64). Nothing else: PDFs use calibre's bundled Poppler, CBR/CB7 use calibre's
unpacker, AZW3 uses calibre's ebook-convert. Tesseract only for the
text layer.
Note on the bundled binary
The plugin contains the native comic-scissors command line tool (Rust, open source). Source, build scripts and CI:
https://github.com/rustsky/comicscissors
It is also usable on its own from the command line.
Installation
