There's no emergency with enabling PMs. Paul did a bunch just a couple of days ago.
Not to mention that the few of us left probably aren't going to respond well to timing how long it takes us to get to these things.
I honestly don't know what the threshold is for being granted the ability to edit one's own posts. Nor do I know if post-count is the only criteria. Perhaps length of membership is in play. I do know that there are constraints on how many posts one can edit during a certain timeframe. This was implemented when a disgruntled user tried to remove the contents of all their posts on the forum. Destroying the continuity of many a conversation in so doing.
There also may be limits on how long a user can to go back and edit a post. I could be wrong, though. Others may know better.
