The Nxtpaper 11 is about 16 million shades so any text looks far better. I've compared them, also with a similar size iPad and a reMarkable side by side. The Sage is best, but only if ambient light allows the front light off. Otherwise the Nxtpaper 11 is far better (sRGB mode and manual brightness & colour balance).

I also have a Sage. I read primarily in bed at night, obviously with the light on and set to a nighttime mode. I'm currently using my Elipsa 2E but can easily compare the Sage and Elipsa 2E. I read for about an hour or so before going to sleep. I haven't had any eyestrain at all with the eReaders.
Do you find the nighttime reading experience better with the TCL?
