Lightbulb improving knockoff Libra 2 SleepCover cases

like many others, my original Kobo SleepCover began deteriorating within months of purchase... the super thin vinyl layer peeled and has been flaking off over the past couple years.

some people have had good luck with the knockoff cases, but i've bought/returned four of them now because none of them interact with the Hall effect sleep/wake sensor consistently or properly. just luck of the draw, it seems!

so far, i've taken some tiny magnets and stuck them to the built-in ones, and this immediately solves the "go to sleep and wake up" issue. however, these external magnets are also strong enough that they affect the sensor when the case is folded around the back -- meaning that flipping the case around puts the device to sleep while i'm reading it. oops!

i'm wondering if any MobileRead posters have dissected either their original SleepCase or any of the clones, to see what's going on with the magnets. the reason i ask is because if somebody's already done it and has knowledge (and/or photos) it could keep me from accidentally destroying my own in the attempt.
