Is there a way to get Calibre to write metadata to PDFs without having to save/export

I setting up a new Calibre library to catalog all my RPG PDFs. I found a DriveThruRPG plugin that works well for pulling down metadata. But I noticed, at least for PDFs, that the metadata gets written to the metadata.opf file, but not to the PDF directly. If I save/export the PDF, I have the option to embed the metadata.

Is there a way to embed the metadata when I download it? Or can I run the ebook-meta command line tool to embed the metadata based on the metadata.opf file?
