godelocs, another way to start a new thread is to go to the forum you want to start a thread in. at the top left of the list of threads in the forum is a little blue button called "new thread". just click on that.
i also use my "user cp" to keep track of replies to my threads ; you are automatically subscribed to any thread you start or reply in, and whenever there is a new post in one of your subscribed threads it will show up in the list there. you may also get an email alerting you to this, but you can modify that (otherwise you'll end up getting a LOT of emails) via your user cp as well. if you want to subscribe to a thread without posting in it, you can click on "thread tools" at the top of the thread, and select "subscribe".
