Real spines are very inconsistent (My first use of Calibre was to document my 900+ paperback collection). Right facing text. Left facing text. The very occasional Vertical text. Pub Logo top, Pub Logo bottom and orientation is a grab bag. Even the color (readability contrast) choices are a mixed bag.
