I think the abandoned theming functionality of the PocketBook OS tells you everything you need to know about their priority towards user personalisation.

I have a PocketBook that I love, likely because I spent the time and endured the learning curve to make Koreader my default reading app. It does integrate seamlessly with PocketBooks, I rarely ever see Koreader's settings or its attempt at a Library view as PocketBook's own library view will launch direct to Koreader and the device will start up directly to the last book in Koreader etc.

My terse recommendation on ereaders for those that have specific formatting preferences:
Getting a Pocketbook, use Koreader.
Don't want to use Koreader, get a Kobo.
