Just to revive this a bit: version 1.7.0 and later versions now have full support and builds for Mac - both arm64 and intel/amd64. And while I cannot test old Mac intel (have no hardware) I can confirm that everything (mtp and usbms drivers) works on Apple Silicon macOS 26.6 natively, on pair with Windows and Linux builds.

So, no - this program does not necessarily needs AMD64 processor, but will run with one on supported OS.

In addition there are now "light" builds for all platforms (stkm variants) which only include "mail" command and will happily run on pretty much anything which supports up to date Go toolchain.
