Hi everyone,

I’m looking for help with a Kobo Clara BW that appears to be hard-bricked.

The issue reportedly started immediately after the owner installed/configured KOReader and rebooted the device. Unfortunately, I don’t know exactly how KOReader was installed (NickelMenu, KFMon, etc.).

Current symptoms

* Completely white screen.
* PC does not detect the device at all.
* Manual factory reset never enters recovery mode.
* Holding the power button for about 60 seconds causes the white LED to flash around 10 times, then stop.
* A normal press while connected to a charger only turns the white LED on once, then it goes off.
* The screen never changes.

What I’ve already tried

* Different USB cables.
* Different PCs.
* Wall charger for more than 4 hours.
* Official manual factory reset procedure multiple times.
* 60-second power button reset.
* Holding the power button while connected to USB power.

Since this is a customer’s device, I would prefer not to open it unless there is absolutely no other option.

Has anyone seen this exact behavior on a Clara BW?

Could this still be recoverable through software, or does it usually indicate eMMC/internal storage failure?

I’d especially appreciate input from DNSB, since I’ve seen many of your Kobo recovery posts.
