What is SOD? I want to assume Screen Of Death, but a quick google didn't turn up anything?

So if the brick happened, there wouldn't be some way to install an alternate OS, or boot to the original OS the PC shipped with? If you had a clone of the disc(s) (before the brick) you wouldn't be able to swap in the clone.

I haven't been paying close attention to Windows developments, so thank you for the information.
