I'm just beginning to slowly digest lunch: a 15 item vegetarian sampler platter from Fadi's - a Lebanese restaurant nearby. Of course, I was going to just eat half of it and take the other half home for dinner. But those neurons in the prefrontal cortex that are supposed to fire now and then to remind us of the importance of moderation and restraint just don't seem to work when there's an enormous plate in front of me filled with warm pita, hummos, baba ghanooge, tabuli salad, cucumber salad, potato salad, pecan couscous, tomatoes with fresh mozarella, greek salad, mixed vegetables, cilantro zucchini, pomegranate eggplant, rice, Parmesan spinach, coriander potatoes, Italian green beans, and my favourite fried cauliflower (and I probably missed a couple). I wanted a pistachio dessert but couldn't breathe to get up and ask for one. Is it time for my nap, yet?
