I stopped waiting for GRRM to finish the books more than a decade ago. And while I loved the first 3 books, I haven't read the 4th and the 5th. There's no point. It's very unlikely he'll ever finish the series; moreover, even if by some miracle he will, it won't probably be particularly good. Clearly he got bored with the series after the 3rd book, but is not brave enough to admit it to all his fans.
I'm not judging him - authors are only human, the quality of their writing can and does vary over the years and writer's block is a real phenomenon. It's best to move on when it's clear no more books will be forthcoming.
