Just open the epub file as an archive, because that what it is. If the audio files are truly embedded and not just links to external files then you should find some mp3, ogg, opus or whatever audioformat was used inside the archive.

Many thanks Gormagon - I used the Unarchiver app and was able to find the mp4 files that way - they were embedded. As someone who used Windows for decades before switching to the Mac, I'd say Windows is not without its issues too...
