Page-skipping with Sage physical turn buttons getting worse
My beloved Kobo Sage has had an intermittent problem since I got it (I bought gently-used off someone in 2022 for $180 at the time, which was an amazing deal, so it didn't seem right to complain): when using the physical page-turn buttons, pressing the button once will sometimes get interpreted as two or three presses, resulting in page skips. I often don't even realize it until I notice that the sentence fragment seems disconnected from what I was reading, and then I have to page-back to find my place and confirm that there was a page or two in-between. Sometimes it even gets into a page-turn loop where it will start jumping until I manually stop it.
As time has gone on, the problem has been getting worse, to where it's not just once in awhile but every-other-press, bordering on every press. It's getting to the point where I'm just tapping the screen out of frustration, because the page-turns will skip on both buttons, such that page-forward jumps from p.103 -> 103, then I page-back, which takes it back to 101, then another attempt at page-forward jumps (once again) to 103.
I am not sure if there's anything I can do for the device. Given that I'm not seeing similar complaints about this happening to other people with Sages, I have to assume it's a hardware defect on my device. But given that the Sage is now OOP and there hasn't been a replacement Kobo yet with similar dimensions, it seems like I'm stuck with it.
