I think it's great that you found a way to read that suits you perfectly. That's all that matters. But yeah, using an Android app on a non-touchscreen device is probably quite difficult.

The e-ink thing is real — I get it, and I'm not sure I'd argue with it for daytime reading. Different tools for different contexts.
The D-pad part though — that's actually where it gets interesting. Most apps are a mess on TV precisely because they assume touch. But I've been using one that was built specifically for D-pad navigation, and it changes the whole experience. It's not a workaround, it just works.
