Books that are DRM-free (at the publisher's request) at Amazon are likely to be DRM-free most everywhere they're sold. So if EPUB is what you're ultimately after, why go through Amazon to get one in the first place? Wouldn't it be less of a hassle to just buy the DRM-free book from an epub retailer?
I mean, lets face it: the epub offering from Amazon is just a gimmick so they can point to it and say they're not forcing their extra layer of KFX encryption onto the content creator's who wish for their offerings to be encryption free.
