I like NickelMenu. It adds a new menu icon on the home screen and lets you add custom shortcuts to it and a few other places.

I've added a few things to the NickelMenu config on my Kobo Clara 2E:

My contact info in case I lose the device and someone wants to return it:

I also have KOReader installed but I don't use it. The default reading experience on my Kobo is fine without KOReader.
