Of course, if you don't want to use calibre to keep tabs on reads and re-reads, you could just do the old tried and true method of using an Excel spreadsheet. I did that for many years. And if you have two number columns, you can have a total number of books read and a total number for the year, and maybe a third number column for how many times the book has been read.
I eventually whipped up a program to keep tabs on it all for me, and even show stats. I don't bother to keep tabs on how many times I've read a book though, but it wouldn't be hard to step through each instance and count as I go. Not that I re-read very often these days ... too much to read, and so little time.
