It almost certainly is. Because Kindle for PC was hacked by Satsuoni not that long time ago, and they want to stop that. Replacing it with the Windows store app
at the same time as ditching old pre-KFX Kindles and infecting all KFX-capable Kindles with an unbroken DRM version would be a huge coincidence if not connected.
