No, it is not intentional. If you brought this up in previous comments it was just an oversight. Look for it in an upcoming update.
To answer the second question, the plugin is not set up to assume everyone wants all of their library books tracked. Think of the plugin as a small Storygraph/Hardcoverapp/Goodreads application. You "tell" those services what books you want to keep track of. They don't assume you want all of the books in their catalog considered for your reading statistics. If you want books to immediately populate the tracker after you input a status, I can certainly plan for that feature, while keeping manual control for users who want it.
If there is some other feature that is not working for you, or you would like to see, let me know your use case.
