Hi there. Great to hear the plugin is useful for you.
There is already a timing heuristic for hyphenated words that starts at 1.4x display for a two part word and adds an additional delay per extra hyphen. If it's skipping by too quick then try changing this setting first, e.g. push to 2.0x
If that still doesn't help then let me know. It could be that the material you are reading is using dashes or similar.
