Mine does, all of the time. I'm running firmware 820. Here's what happens:

I'm reading a book and suddenly the device becomes unresponsive. LED won't flash when I try to change pages and it simply becomes a brick. I then have to use the reset pinhole on the back of the device. Once it boots back up and I select the book it goes to the page where I STARTED my previous reading session on. In other words, it loses ALL the progress I've made during the previous reading section.

It is bad enough to where I'm having to click the Menu button then "Back to Library" and then click back on the book every 15-20 minutes so it will save my progress. I'm run the equivalent of a chkdsk on my mac (I think) which means I did a verify and repair permissions. I haven't reformatted the internal memory to FAT 32, and I was thinking of doing that, but the OP just stated that he's having the problem I'm having even after doing that.

It's getting pretty annoying and the only thing I can think of is not safely removing hardware. On a mac, you have to drag the drive icon to the trash (which becomes an eject button). Once I do this, it's only safely ejected for ~3 seconds until it automatically remounts, and I've probably mistimed it a couple of times.
