zeda -- I'm sorry to hear about your flood. That must have been some rain! When were your gutters (the drain pipe on the roof) last cleaned? I wonder if the rain was so heavy the pipes couldn't cope with all the rain and it poured down the side of the building and into your flat?
We recently replaced several panes of glass in our flat. It is an old building with 12 small panes of glass in each window. We used glazing putty which must have had linseed oil in it, because the blue tits and great tits loved pecking at it. They would fly right up to the window and sit on the window ledge and munch away at it. We finally had to hang cds in the window to scare them away.
