It's because the DRM for KFX was built to be able to be changed as Amazon sees fit. And they have changed it on Kindles with a 5.16.2.1.1 on up. Amazon can remotely change the DRM. They have also changed the DRM on K4PC, K4MAC, and K4Android. I'm guessing also K4iOS/K4iPadOS.
