Mine was in the brown case when the screen broke.
The Gen3 in its brown cover was in a jacket pocket,
and I suspect that it got squashed/twisted between my body and the car's seatbelt.

Since then, the brown case has travelled in a padded bag, and I have not put it into clothing pockets.
