I got it last week - re-downloaded all my files into it through Calibre. I have epubs, azw3, mobi, and pdf - which all worked fine in my last kindle (11th signature paperwhite)
I keep getting an ERROR message - "An error occurred. If you purchased this item from Amazon, remove the downloaded item and download it from the Cloud"
I've restarted, the file opens fine. But then another file gives me the same error. I'll restart it again, it works but then it'll give me the error message on the same file after I've been able to open it. This has been happening at random with different files.
If anyone can guide me on what to do, I'd really appreciate it. I don't want to return it, but this is so frustrating.

You need to tag them as Personal Document (PDOC), not Book/EBOK (if mobi or azw3: ePub is not supported and it's not relevant to PDF). In conversion options for AZW3 or MOBI choose 'Enable sharing'. You may need to convert fresh because default for this option is 'off'.
If there's ASIN metadata in a Book, and this isn't something you purchased from Amazon, then that error ensues.
This behavior is relatively new in recent updates. It probably still doesn't give you an error on older firmware and Kindles.
