This is because google recently started blocking calibre (and non browser clients more generally)
from accessing its search results. As a result some of the builtin metadata sources no longer work.
Things you can do to workaround this are: 1) Go to preferences->metadata download and configure the amazon
source changing the server from auto to amazon. 2) Install some more metadata sources via Preferences->Plugins->Get new plugins, such as Kobo or Apple metadata and cover sources.
