[GUI Plugin]CalibreSync Bridge - Safe Library Mirroring for Android
CalibreSync Bridge is a tool designed for users of the Calibre-Sync app on Android who want a hassle-free and safe way to keep their libraries synchronized via cloud services (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.).
The main challenge with Android sync apps is that they often require specific database columns (isbn, lccn, flags) that might be missing or handled differently in the main calibre database. Modifying your master database can be risky. This plugin solves that by creating a dedicated mirror of your library.
How it works
Mirroring: The plugin replicates your entire calibre library (books and folder structure) to a destination folder of your choice.
Safe Patching: It copies your metadata.db to the destination and only patches that specific copy.
Independence: Your original calibre library remains "vanilla" and untouched. The mirrored library in the cloud is the one your Calibre-sync apk Android device will read.
IMPORTANT: The mirrored library in your cloud folder is intended only for the Calibre-sync Android app. You should not attempt to open that specific cloud folder directly with the calibre desktop application to avoid synchronization conflicts.
Key Features
Cloud Agnostic: Works with any service that has a local sync folder.
Incremental Sync: Only copies new or modified files to save time and bandwidth.
Automated Workflow: One click to mirror, copy, and patch.
Multilingual: Support for English and Spanish (via .po files).
Installation & Setup
Install the plugin using the "Load plugin from file" option in calibre.
Crucial Step: Create a new folder in your Cloud service (e.g., Dropbox/MyAndroidLibrary).
In calibre, click the arrow on the Calibre-Sync Bridge icon and select "Configure destination folder...".
Select the folder you just created.
Click the main icon to start the process.
Note Version:
Version 1.3.10
Added: New "Sync Now" option directly in the plugin menu. This allows users to run the synchronization even if the plugin is placed in the "Menu Bar" instead of the "Tool Bar".
Improved: Added translation support for all interface strings (i18n ready).
Fixed: Improved icon rendering consistency across different bar configurations.
v1.3.9 Not tested on iOS
