"Autocomplete" is almost always something I do not want, and should NEVER be a default selection (some people work in multiple languages and/or with specialized vocabularies, and the less said about "proper names" and autocomplete the better). I at least want to turn it off!
As far as I know, there is no way in the calibre editor to disable autocomplete on search/search & replace.

AFAIK, that is only for automatically adding the /> to close a tag. It does not have any effect on autocomplete in search/search & replace.
