Thank you for the description and I think you did everything right. I will make it exactly as you wrote.
There is one thing, that came immediately on my mind. The synchronization of data with widget may not propagate correctly. I will check in the code, where it does update the widget and this will likely be the source of the problem here.
It surely sync on start, so I think when you start it today, it synced yours yesterday refreshes to widget.
